General presentation
The DTIVA/F relay is an intelligent electronic device for protection and control dedicated to distribution lines; it belongs to the DTIVA product family within the PROTECTA product range.
DTIVA products are configured to protect, control and supervise the components of public and industrial electrical distribution networks, including radial, ring and meshed distribution networks. Thanks to their modular architecture, the modules are assembled and configured according to the user’s needs; the software then determines the functions (SFB).
The main fields of application are impedance-earthed or isolated radial networks. In these cases, the use of Petersen coils or earthing resistors results in relatively low currents in the event of single-phase earth faults. Most protection functions rely on current measurement alone, but the integration of distributed generation or the presence of loops in the network topology calls for additional voltage measurements as well as directional protection functions. Distance and line differential protection functions are also available to protect compensated or isolated networks.
The EuroCAP configuration tool, available free of charge, provides a user-friendly and flexible application for protection, control and measurement functions, ensuring that the devices are fully customisable.

Applications
The DTIVA/F (Feeder) relay is a basic non-directional device providing three-phase + Io overcurrent protection, switchgear control (and circuit breaker monitoring) as well as automation. It is designed to provide main or back-up protection of overhead lines and cables on distribution networks (or HV systems). The configured functions are based on current measurement and are completed by an auto-reclosing function.
The relay can also be used for circuit breaker failure protection.

Protection and control functions
The DTIVA/F relay measures the three phase currents as well as the residual current. It is intended to protect overhead line or cable networks. The range of functions is completed by the auto-reclosing function.
Thanks to its built-in control, measurement and monitoring functions, this intelligent electronic device (IED) can also be used as a bay control unit.
