Functional block diagram of the ASZKG relay

General presentation
The ASZKG relay is an intelligent electronic device (IED) designed to provide automatic synchronising of generators connected to one or two busbars. It belongs to the PROTECTA range. This range, in both hardware and software terms, is based on a modular device. Thanks to this modular architecture, the modules are assembled and configured according to the user’s needs; from then on, the software determines the functions.
The EuroCAP configuration software, available free of charge, provides a user-friendly and flexible application for protection, control and measurement functions, allowing the use of fully customisable devices.

Applications
The ASZKG relays are designed to provide automatic synchronising of synchronous generators with the power grid. Synchronising can be performed at two different points; the choice between the two depends on the logic defined by the user.
These protection devices integrate a wide range of control and supervision functions allowing full control and the implementation of user-defined interlocking schemes for the primary switchgear of the substation.
Field of application
- “Synchrocheck” and “synchroswitch” functions with output signals for the control of the generator frequency and voltage
- Switchable target circuit breaker, delay detection for automatic selection
- User-configurable start/cancellation conditions
Protection and control functions
The ASZKG device measures one phase-to-phase voltage from the generator and from each busbar for synchronising purposes. Optionally, it can measure the three-phase voltages on each side for dead line detection (voltage supervision). Its main function is that of an automatic generator synchroniser, an enhanced version of the “synchrocheck-synchroswitch” function, thanks to outputs that send raise or lower commands for frequency and voltage to the generator.
