DVEZ selection guide
General presentation
The DVEZ device is intended to perform the “substation computer” function. It provides complex control and command, disturbance recording and event logging functions. It belongs to the PROTECTA range. In hardware and software terms, this range is made up of modular devices. Because of this architecture, the modules are assembled and configured according to the user’s needs; from then on, the software determines the functions (SFB).
The EuroCAP configuration tool, available free of charge, provides a user-friendly and flexible application for protection, control and measurement functions, ensuring that the protection devices are fully customisable.

Applications
The DVEZ computers are designed for bay control applications on transmission and distribution networks. They allow full control of any type of switchgear (including closing functions) and of other substation applications. The factory configurations of the DVEZ implement the basic functionalities, but optional functions can be added to extend the capabilities of the device. The main functions of the DVEZ are control functions, such as switchgear control (circuit breakers, disconnectors, etc.), user-defined control functions, event triggering functions, GOOSE management functions, etc. Each device is specialised for a specific application.

Protection and control functions
The number and the functionalities of each DVEZ type are defined according to the application philosophy, taking into account the main possible uses. The available configurations are listed in the table above.
- DVEZ/E1 Bay control unit with logic I/O modules, RTD, AIC or ATO modules as options only
